Lady Gaga's Intense New Music Feature Manages Rape At College

Lady Gaga’s newest single ‘Til It Happens To You’ is a heartbreaking song dealing with the reality of sexual assault and rape on university campuses, and now it has a hard hitting video to go with it.
Lady Gaga's Intense New Music

The public-service music video and song were made to accompany campus rape documentary The Hunting Ground.
The tune was co-composed by Canadian musician Diane Warren and is committed to survivors of rape far and wide.

The 29-year-old Gaga – genuine name Stefani Germanotta – tweeted, "We trust [you] feel our adoration [and] solidarity through the tune [and] maybe discover some peace in knowing [you are] not the only one through this film. The video opens with a warning: “The following contains graphic content that may be emotionally unsettling but reflects the reality of what is happening daily on college campuses.”
And the message of the song is pretty simple. As Gaga sings, “Til it happens to you, you don’t know how it feels.”
The video depicts scenes of sexual assaults on a university campus, as well as scenes which show three female university students trying to come to terms with surviving sexual assault.
The video comes in response to an extremely troubling statistic which reports that one in five college women are sexually assaulted each year.
Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke directed the music video.
In a statement, she said:
I hope that this PSA, with its raw and truthful portrayals, will send a clear message that we need to support these courageous survivors and end this epidemic plaguing our college campuses.
A portion of the proceeds made from the sale of the song will be donated to organisations helping survivors of rape and sexual assault.
Gaga has previously spoken out about being sexually assaulted at the age of 19, and has recently joined a campaign to tackle sexual assault and “rape culture” on university campuses in New York.
